- Adam Wainwright equaled his career high with three RBI and won his 16th game of the season as the Cardinals defeated the  Pirates 6-4 Tuesday night at Busch Stadium, extending their winning streak to four games.

- Combined with Chicago's 7-1 win over Milwaukee, the Brewers' seventh loss in a row, the Cardinals extended their lead in the NL Central to two games. They will go for the sweep of the series against the Pirates in a 12;45 p.m. game today with Shelby Miller pitching against edinson Volquez.

- Michael Wacha will make the start for the Cardinals on Thursday night when they open a four-game series in Milwaukee, his first game since June 17, when he was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right shoulder. 

- Michael Sam is scheduled to be in Dallas today to take a physical and is then expected to be signed by the Cowboys to their practice squad.
