- Manchester City rallied from a three-goal deficit to pull off a 4-3 victory over Chelsea Thursday night in an exhibition soccer game between the two English Premier League clubs at Busch Stadium. The game drew the largest crowd in the seven-year history of the stadium.
-Jay Haas and Duffy Waldorf each shot a five-under-par round of 66 to tie for the lead after the first round of the Senior PGA tournament Thursday at Bellerive Country Club. Haas, a native of Belleville, Ill., is a two-time winner of this event.
-The Cardinals will open a three-game series in Los Angeles tonight after a day off on Thursday. Lance Lynn will start for the Cardinals against the Dodgers' Chris Capuano. The Cardinals have the best record in the National League at 30-16.
-Cardinals' pitcher Jaime Garcia is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery today in St. Louis. He will miss the rest of the season.
