- The Blues will open  the first round of the playoffs tonight against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks at Scottrade Center. Ryan Miller will be in goal for the start of the best-of-seven series.

- After this morning's skate coach Ken Hitchcock said forwards David Backes, Vladimir Tarasenko and Vladimir Sobotka will be in the lineup but T.J. Oshie and Patrik Berglund will miss tonight's game because of their injuries.

- Multiple media outlets reported today that Frank Haith has reached an agreement in principle to leave the University of Missouri and become the new basketball coach at Tulsa. Haith reportedly was en route to Tulsa this afternoon but there has been no official announcement from either school.

- The Cardinals today placed pitcher Joe Kelly on the disabled list after he suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday. The club also optioned Keith Butler to Memphis and promoted right-handers Eric Fornataro and Jorge Rondon from the Triple A club. They will join the team before tonight's game in Washington. Adam Wainwright is scheduled to pitch against Taylor Jordan of the Nationals.
