- The Rams released wide receiver Austin Pettis on Monday, one day after he had been inactive for the first time this season. Coach Jeff Fisher said the move was made to free up a roster spot for another position, but he did not offer any other details at his regular weekly news conference.

- Kick returner Marcus Murphy of Missouri was named the SEC special teams player of the week on Monday after returning both a kickoff and punt for touchdowns in the Tigers' win over Florida on Saturday. Shane Ray also was named the league's defensive lineman of the week.

- Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay is going to undergo surgery on his left wrist later this week, general manager John Mozeliak said on Monday. Jay's rehab and recovery is expected to take between six and eight weeks.
