- Lance Lynn pitched seven shutout innings as the Cardinals completed a series sweep over the Reds with a 7-3 win Wednesday night at Busch Stadium, moving within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Brewers.

- The Cardinals will have the day off on Thursday before opening a three-game series and six-game road trip on Friday night in Philadelphia with Adam Wainwright on the mound.
