- Three more RBI from Matt Holliday and a two-run pinch-hit homer by Kolten Wong carried the Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Pirates Monday at Busch Stadium and into sole possession of first place in the NL Central for the first time this season.

- Adam Wainwright will make his third try for this 16th win tonight while the Pirates will start Jeff Locke.

- The Rams claimed quarterback Case Keenum from the Texans on waivers on Monday, To make room for him on the roster tight end Justice Cunningham was placed on injured reserve.

- The Rams signed 10 players for their practice squad - linebacker Denicos Allen, wide receiver Emory Blake, safety Christian Bryant, defensive tackle Matt Conrath, safety Matt Daniels, quarterback Garrett Gilbert, tackle Sean Hooey, linebacker Kevin Reddick, wide receiver Justin Veltung and guard Brandon Washington. All but Allen and Reddick had been in training camp with the Rams, who open the regular season Sunday hosting the Minnesota Vikings at the Edward Jones Dome.
