- In their second trade in two days, the Cardinals sent pitcher Joe Kelly and outfielder Allen Craig to the Red Sox on Thursday in exchange for pitcher John Lackey and minor-league pitcher Corey Littrell. On Wednesday, the Cardinals acquired starting pitcher Justin Masterson from the Cleveland Indians with Double A outfielder and former first-round pick James Ramsey going to the Indians organization.

- The Cardinals today recalled outfielder Shane Robinson from Memphis and optioned pitcher Carlos Martinez to the Triple A club. Both Masterson and Lackey will be in uniform for tonight's game. .

- The Cardinals return home tonight to begin a three-game series against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright will pitch against Wily Peralta.  

- Former Rams defensive back Aeneas Williams will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio on Saturday. Williams is one of seven members of the Class of 2014. He starred for the Rams from 2001 to 2004 as part of a 14-year NFL career.
