- The Missouri Tigers accepted an invitation to play in the Cotton Bowl after their 11-2 season. They will meet a former Big 12 opponent, Oklahoma State, in the game on Jan. 3 in Dallas. The Tigers last played in the Cotton Bowl in 2008 against Arkansas.
- The Rams lost 30-10 to the Cardinals Sunday in Arizona. The Rams had trouble generating offense as quarterback Kellen Clemens threw two interceptions and was sacked four times. On defense, the Rams could not stop wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 12 passes for 96 yards.
- Former Cardinal managers Tony La Russa and Joe Torre could be elected to baseball's Hall of Fame today. Both are on the ballot for consideration by the Veterans Committee, which will announce its selections at the winter meetings in Orlando, Fla.
