Cardinals break ground on Ballpark Village

ST. LOUIS (February 8, 2013) – The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cordish Companies broke ground this morning on Ballpark Village, a mixed-use development on 10-acres adjacent to Busch Stadium. A group of team officials, project participants, and civic leaders commenced work on the $100 million first-phase of the development with the symbolic turning of dirt with commemorative shovels.

Cardinals sign David Freese to one-year deal


The Cardinals announced Friday they have agreed to terms with third baseman David Freese on a one-year contract for the upcoming 2013 season, thus avoiding salary arbitration. The Cardinals have now come to terms with all arbitration eligible players.

- Adam Wainwright tossed his third shutout of the year to earn his 19th victory as the Cardinals reduced their magic number to win the NL Central to nine with a 2-0 win over the Brewers Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

- Shelby Miller will get the start on Thursday night as former Cardinal Kyle Lohse pitches for the Brewers. 

- The Rams returned to the the practice field Wednesday to begin preparations for Sunday's game at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Wide receiver Stedman Bailey was reinstated by the NFL after being suspended for the first two games of the season and is eligible to play on Sunday.
