- The Cardinals acquired starting pitcher Justin Masterson from the Cleveland Indians Wednesday in exchange for Double A outfielder and former first-round pick James Ramsey. The team said that Masterson will be the starter for Saturday's game against the Brewers at Busch Stadium.
- The Padres erupted for eight runs in the seventh inning, the biggest inning against the Cardinals this season, en route to a 12-1 blowout win Wednesday night in San Diego.
- The Cardinals will send Shelby Miller to the mound today in an attempt to salvage the final game of the series in San Diego, needing a win to finish the road trip with a 3-3 record.
- The Blues announced Wednesday they have signed free agent forward Peter Mueller to a one-year, two-way contract. A five-year NHL veteran, Mueller played in Switzerland last season.
