- Barret Jackman's overtime goal gave the Blues a 4-3 win over Chicago Saturday and a 2-0 lead in their first round playoff series - the same spot they were in last year before losing to Los Angeles. Game three in the series will be Monday night in Chicago.
- For the second game in a row, the Blues needed a late goal to send the game to overtime. This time, Vladimir Tarasenko scored with 6.8 seconds to play with the Blues on a power play, and having pulled goalie Ryan Miller for an extra attacker, after Brent Seabrook was assessed a major penalty for charging David Backes.
- Lance Lynn raised his record to 4-0 with a 4-3 win for the Cardinals Saturday against the Nationals in Washington. Backup catcher Tony Cruz drove in two runs.
- The Cardinals and Nationals will conclude the four-game series on Sunday, with Shelby Miller pitching against Stephen Strasburg.
