-Fernando Salas could not protect a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, allowing two inherited runners to score, and the Cardinals lost 4-2 to the Padres Monday night in San Diego. Adam Wainwright will start Tuesday night's game looking for his sixth win of the season.

-The Cardinals will promote another rookie, left-hander Tyler Lyons, from Triple A Memphis to take the place of Jaime Garcia and start Wednesday night's game in San Diego. Garcia was officially placed on the disabled list on Sunday, with Mitchell Boggs rejoining the team. The Cardinals will have to make another roster move before Wednesday to activate Lyons.
