- The Blues will open  the first round of the playoffs Thursday night against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks at Scottrade Center. Ryan Miller will be in goal for the start of the best-of-seven series, but coach Ken Hitchcock said the team will not make any decisions about who can play or cannot play because of injuries until just before game time. They hope to have most of their key players back, including David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Vladimir Tarasenko and Vladimir Sobotka.

- Joe Kelly had to leave the game with a hamstring injury and two errors led to four unearned runs as the Brewers won the final game of the series against the Cardinals 5-1 Wednesday in Milwaukee. Kelly will return to St. Louis for an MRI on Thursday.

- The Cardinals' road trip continues Thursday night in Washington, with Adam Wainwright scheduled to pitch against Taylor Jordan of the Nationals.
