(Compiled by Staff)  –Lindenwood men’s basketball player Kramer Soderberg was named a First-Team Capital One Academic All-American on Wednesday. Soderberg is the fourth Lindenwood student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors and the first to be placed on an Academic All-America first-team list.

Soderberg was one of five players selected for the first-team out of all of the NCAA Division II and NCAA Division II transition men’s basketball programs. He was joined on the first-team by Rory Blanche (Western Washington), Ryan Dougherty (Southwest Baptist), Desmond King (Texas A&M-Commerce), and Nick Trull (Anderson). The five members of the first-team have an average GPA of 3.74.

Soderberg, a senior Mass Communications major, is finishing his second season on the Lindenwood roster. In just 64 games, he has scored 1,093 points and averaged over 17 points a game. Soderberg has also collected 249 assists and 159 rebounds. Soderberg is on pace to set the school’s career free-throw percentage mark and has a shot to break the school’s career three-point percentage record. Lindenwood has a 55-9 record since Soderberg joined the team.

This season, Soderberg is averaging 17.2 points and 3.5 assists a game for a Lindenwood squad that is currently 26-3 on the year. He has scored in double-figures in 26 contests, including eight games with 20 or more points. Soderberg has led the team in scoring in 13 contests and in assists in 10 games. He was named the MVP of the McKendree Invitational and was named to the all-tournament team at two other tournaments.

In 2010-11, Soderberg led Lindenwood to a 29-6 record and an appearance in the second round of the NAIA Division I National Tournament. He was named a NAIA third-team All-American, a first-team all-conference player, and the conference Newcomer of the Year.  Soderberg averaged 17.0 points and 4.2 assists a game that season, and ranked in the top-10 in the NAIA in free-throw percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Lindenwood men’s basketball team will conclude its season next week at the NCAA Transitional Tournament in Spearfish, S.D.
